Bhubaneswar: A citizen forum under the banner of Bhubaneswar Unnayan Parishad is planning a massive protest against Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s collection of user fees for garbage cleaning and sanitation, calling it illegal and undemocratic. The forum alleged that Odisha high court stayed such collection four years ago and that no clarification has yet been filed by the BMC or housing and urban development department. It argued sanitation services are already covered under holding tax and cannot be charged separately. A public deliberation meeting will be held on April 9 regarding the mass protest in Bhubaneswar.
