Ahmedabad: A Navi Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight from Ahmedabad made an emergency landing in Surat on Monday evening, after a three-year-old passenger’s health deteriorated mid-air, requiring onboard medical assistance and rapid coordination on the ground to rush the child to a hospital.The flight, 6E-7018, took off from Ahmedabad around 7pm with 72 passengers and was en route to Navi Mumbai when the child’s health worsened at around 8.20pm. The child, who was travelling with his mother, had already been unwell at the time of boarding.Cabin crew sought medical help from passengers, and two doctors on board responded. They provided immediate assistance, but the child’s condition did not improve. The pilot then opted for a precautionary emergency landing at Surat International Airport.After an alert from Air Traffic Control, CISF personnel, the airport medical team, IndiGo staff and other agencies coordinated to prepare for the emergency.The aircraft landed safely and medical personnel administered first aid before shifting the child to a hospital for specialised treatment.Officials said CISF ensured swift and safe transit by coordinating with the airport authorities, the airline and the medical team. The flight departed Surat for Navi Mumbai at 9.20pm.
