To review the arrangement, district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh and chief development officer (CDO) Abhinav J. Jain inspected the integrated solid waste management (RRC) centre set up in the panchayat.

Kanpur: Gram panchayat Chaubepur Kalan in Chaubepur block is emerging as a successful model for solid waste management in rural areas.Door-to-door waste collection, segregation of garbage, scientific disposal of plastic waste and vermicompost production are being carried out effectively in the panchayat.After segregation, plastic waste is sent to plastic waste management centres located at Ramaipur and Bilhaur Dehat. Under an initiative by the gram pradhan and the panchayat, villagers have also paid a user charge of about ₹1.08 lakh, which has been deposited in the gram panchayat’s own source revenue (OSR) account.A vermicompost unit is also operational at the centre, where about 16 quintals of organic fertiliser has been produced so far. The fertiliser is used and sold to various institutions, including the horticulture department, forest department, municipal corporation and Kanpur Development Authority.To review the arrangement, district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh and chief development officer (CDO) Abhinav J. He said priority is being given to the scientific management of garbage under the Swachh Bharat Mission.He added that, in compliance with Supreme Court directions, it is necessary to ensure effective implementation of solid waste management rules coming into force from April 1, 2026.
