Chatra: Amid allegations of irregularities and protests by candidates over the ongoing home guard recruitment, Chatra deputy commissioner Keerthishree G on Tuesday inspected the ongoing process at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to review arrangements and also interacted directly with candidates to assess on-ground execution. The DC also took stock of multiple stages of the recruitment process, including registration, physical efficiency test and document verification. The DC instructed officials to prioritise candidate convenience and ensure adequate facilities such as drinking water, shaded areas, medical support, toilets and resting spaces at the venue. The visit comes a day after tensions flared at the collectorate, where aspirants — particularly from Pathalgadda block — raised concerns over alleged discrepancies during the physical test, including claims that proper timing was not maintained in the running event and that marks were not disclosed immediately.Additional collector Arvind Kumar, on the other hand, issued a strong warning against middlemen and fraudsters, asserting that the entire selection process is being conducted in a transparent manner.Kumar said the recruitment drive is being carried out under the direct supervision of senior district officials with strict vigilance at every stage to ensure fairness. “There is no scope for recommendation or monetary influence. Candidates must rely solely on their merit and preparation,” he said.Kumar urged candidates and their families not to fall prey to rumours or misinformation being spread by antisocial elements. “Some people are deliberately trying to create confusion. Candidates should stay alert and verify information only through official channels,” he added. “If anyone asks for money promising selection in home guard, report immediately for action against such individuals,” Kumar said. The recruitment process started on April 1 and will continue till April 23.
