Shivamogga: A private college lecturer was found dead in Hanumantapura near Holehonnuru in Shivamogga on Sunday.The charred body of Suresh Kumar, 58, was found in his arecanut plantation on Sunday morning. The incident came to light when local labourers heading to the plantation for the areca nut harvest noticed smoke and flames. Upon closer inspection, they discovered the lecturer’s body still ablaze. Panic-stricken, the locals immediately alerted Holehonnuru police, who arrived at the scene to find the remains nearly incinerated.SP B Nikhil, who visited the site, told reporters that according to the preliminary investigation, Suresh’s motorcycle and bag were found near the body. His mobile phone was recovered at the spot and has been sent to the forensic science laboratory for detailed analysis, he said. While the exact cause remains under investigation, police have registered a murder case based on circumstantial evidence, he stated.Suresh Kumar was a dedicated lecturer at Akshara College in Shivamogga. He reportedly left his home on Saturday, telling his family he was attending a wedding. By Sunday morning, the news of his tragic demise reached his wife and two children. The final rites for the deceased were performed in his village on Sunday evening.
