Bengaluru: Siddapura police have filed a 1,328-page chargesheet before the 56th ACMM Court against nine accused, including suspended police constable Annappa Naik, in connection with the Rs 7.1 crore ATM cash van heist on Nov 19 last year.The robbery occurred on the Dairy Circle flyover when a CMS Infosystem Ltd vehicle transporting HDFC Bank cash was intercepted by a gang posing as Reserve Bank of India officials. The accused allegedly restrained the staff and decamped with the money.

The chargesheet lists 129 pieces of evidence, including eyewitness accounts, technical data, and forensic material such as fingerprints of the accused. The investigation was led by ACP Narayana Swamy V of the Jayanagar subdivision, with support from Siddapura, Jayanagar, and South Cyber Crime police. The accused face charges including dacoity, wrongful restraint, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence, and criminal intimidation.Police identified J Xavier and Ravi as the main accused, while Annappa Naik is listed as a co-accused along with Gopal, Rakesh, Naveen, Nelson, Dinesh and Jitesh. Investigators said Gopal, a CMS employee, tipped off Xavier, a former employee, about the cash movement and alleged violations of RBI norms on transporting large sums. Believing the money to be hawala funds, Annappa joined the team.Annappa arranged rental vehicles for the gang, who were unaware that the vehicles were GPS-enabled. Using the tracking data, police traced the culprits, recovering Rs 5.6 crore from Hoskote and seizing the remaining cash from other states.
