Kanpur: Nawabganj police have prepared a 260-page charge sheet in the murder case of a coaching centre operator who was found dead in Nawabganj on June 1.Police have also included footage from around 500 CCTV cameras, call detail records (CDRs) and a bracelet as evidence, DCP (Central) Atul Srivastava said. He added that the charge sheet would be filed in court within two to four days. The victim, Prakash Chandra Gupta, a resident of Yashoda Nagar, ran a computer centre in Nawabganj. On June 1, his blood-soaked body was found inside the centre. He had injuries on his head and around one eye.His brother, Vikas, told police that on the night of May 31, Prakash had said he would stay at the centre to watch the IPL final. The next day, the family was informed about his murder. The family lodged a murder complaint, suspecting robbery as the motive.Following the incident, police analysed footage from CCTV cameras installed inside the centre and in the lane outside. One of the CCTV clips showed a person dressed as a woman and wearing a burqa entering the centre on the night of the incident. When police became suspicious of the gait, they used surveillance inputs to identify the suspect.Police later found that Prakash’s friend Mohit was allegedly disguised in the burqa and had committed the crime with the intention of robbing the victim of a bracelet and cash.Nawabganj inspector Rajkeshwar said CCTV footage and the CDRs of Prakash’s and Mohit’s phones were included as key evidence in the charge sheet. He added that the charge sheet had been prepared and submitted to the ACP and would soon be filed in court.
