Noida: Police have launched a three-day safety drive across housing societies to tighten security systems and check whether private agencies are doing their job, days after the alleged harassment of a 24-year-old woman by a guard inside a lift in a Sector 78 highrise on March 30.The accused guard was arrested on April 1. Police said the district-wide exercise, running from Sunday to Tuesday, is aimed at strengthening safety standards in societies, sectors and institutions and ensuring residents are not left dependent on unchecked private arrangements.Officials said teams will carry out a detailed audit of private security personnel in coordination with RWAs, AOAs and security agencies. The inspection will verify whether agencies are properly registered, whether vehicle and visitor entry-exit records are being maintained, and whether digital verification systems are in place.Police will also examine the number and working condition of CCTV cameras, and whether footage is being stored for long enough to aid investigations if needed. Night patrol arrangements and other basic safeguards provided by security agencies will also be reviewed.Officials said any irregularity found during the audit would invite strict legal action against those responsible.The cops also urged residents to stay alert to security arrangements within their societies and report any shortcomings or concerns.
