Bengaluru: Many class 12 students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have written to Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to consider their revaluated marks for calculating Common Entrance Test (CET) ranks.CET ranks are calculated by considering class 12 results and CET scores in a 50-50 ratio. It may be recalled that the CBSE results were embroiled in controversy after students alleged that the on-screen marking resulted in various discrepancies in the marks awarded. After their papers were sent for revaluation, many received better marks. However, KEA released the CET results on June 7 using the results before revaluation.“My daughter got two more marks after revaluation. Her CET score can improve drastically with the new marks, which could lead to a better college. We request KEA to consider this,” said a parent.Another one said: “This is not an improvement exam, but an error by CBSE in awarding marks. Unlike in previous years, this is a different scenario, where students were not at fault at all.”Parents pointed out that Tamil Nadu withheld its results so as to include the CBSE revaluation results in drawing up its merit list. Additionally, the II PU-2 exam results were considered in Karnataka, while those following CBSE revaluation were skipped.KEA, however, maintained that it does not have the practice of considering revaluated marks for CET ranks. “This will not be possible as the option-entry process has already begun,” said H Prasanna, executive director of KEA.The top CET ranks this time were largely secured by PU board students, as the scoring by CBSE students was generally low in the first valuation.Seat matricesKEA said the seat matrix has arrived for all courses except BPharm, Pharma D, and yoga and naturopathy. The seat matrices for these courses have to come from the health and family welfare department. In the final seat matrix released for engineering, there are altogether 1.6 lakh seats. Of these, 75,468 will be allotted through KEA. Comed-K will have 32,670 seats, while 52,143 are with the management quota. As per the current KEA schedule, students can enter options until 10am Tuesday. Mock seat allotment results will be announced on July 6. Candidates will be allowed to modify until July 9.
