BOKARO: The CBI on Tuesday arrested a Chief Health Inspector of South Eastern Railway’s (SER) Adra Division for allegedly demanding a bribe from a railway employee in lieu of sanctioning medical leave.According to a CBI press release, the agency registered a case on September 15 following a complaint against the accused, posted at Bhojudih in district. The official allegedly demanded an undue advantage of Rs 25,000 from the complainant for approving medical leave.The CBI subsequently laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 from the complainant. Following the arrest, the agency conducted searches at the accused official’s office and residential premises. The CBI said the searches were aimed at collecting further evidence in the case.The accused will be produced before the competent court in Dhanbad. “Investigation is continuing,” the CBI said in its statement.
