Mangaluru: Bajpe police busted an illegal cattle transportation racket on Wednesday, rescuing four cattle and seizing property worth Rs 8.4 lakh. Acting on a tip-off that cattle were being cruelly transported in an SUV, a police team raided a place in Shastavu in Badaga Yedapadavu village in Mangaluru taluk. The operation was carried out under the guidance of ACP Srikanth and police inspector Balakrishna, and led by PSI Latha along with staff members.During the raid, the accused fled the spot, abandoning the vehicle and the animals. Police seized the SUV, four cattle, a sword, and an iron rod. A case was registered at Bajpe police station under relevant sections of the BNS, the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, the Motor Vehicles Act and the Arms Act, 1959.Following investigation, police arrested two accused identified as Nissar alias Nisaruddin alias Parivala Nisar,28, from Permude and Mohammed Jamaluddin,24, from Permanki on Thursday.
