Vadodara: City-based Navrachana University (NU) organized an academia-industry conclave on catalysis for pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals on Saturday. The event brought together scientists, industry professionals, academicians and students to focus on sustainable and scalable chemical manufacturing solutions.Held in collaboration with the Catalysis Society of India, the conclave discussed the role of catalytic science in enabling greener processes, improving efficiency and strengthening India’s position in pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. Experts highlighted advanced catalytic approaches, including homogeneous, heterogeneous, enzymatic and photocatalytic systems, as well as their applications in continuous flow processing, catalyst design and the use of artificial intelligence in chemical processes and drug discovery. A panel discussion focused on challenges such as scaling up laboratory research, meeting regulatory standards and strengthening academia-industry collaboration. Participants underlined the need to speed up the transition from research to industrial implementation.
