Vadodara: A total of 1,520 nomination forms have been filed across local self-govt bodies in Vadodara district ahead of elections scheduled on April 26, reflecting heightened political activity across both urban and rural areas.Of these, 472 nominations were filed for the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), 303 for four municipalities, 134 for the district panchayat, and 611 for eight taluka panchayats.The elections will cover the Vadodara district panchayat, taluka panchayats in Padra, Karjan, Shinor, Savli, Dabhoi, Desar, Vadodara and Waghodia as well as municipalities in Dabhoi, Padra, Savli and Waghodia.Saturday marked the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of papers will continue till Monday, while candidates can withdraw their nominations until Wednesday, according to the schedule announced by the State Election Commission, Gujarat.District election authorities said preparations are underway to ensure the polls are conducted smoothly, transparently and fairly.
