Kanpur: Police in Orai registered an FIR against Dr Aaradhya Nagaich and 30-40 unidentified junior and senior doctors in connection with alleged violence at the Govt Medical College Jalaun in Orai, based on a complaint by victim Brajkishor Gupta’s family. Circle officer (CO) Rajeev Kumar Sharma initiated an investigation based on CCTV footage.According to the complaint, Gupta arrived at the medical college to get his daughter Smriti treated. It was alleged that when he protested over a delay in preparing the prescription at the emergency ward, duty doctor Aaradhya Nagaich pushed him to the ground.It was further alleged that when his son Gopal raised objections, other doctors present at the scene turned aggressive and began abusing and assaulting him. The family stated that 30-40 doctors attacked them with chairs and sticks, leaving Gopal seriously injured.The victim’s side also alleged assault and death threats, including in the presence of police. CO Sharma stated that following the incident, police registered the case on the basis of the written complaint and commenced the investigation.Smriti, daughter of victim Brijkishor Gupta, had slipped and fell at home on Monday, sustaining serious injuries. Her family members brought her to the medical college for treatment. It is alleged that the doctors there first asked them to get a prescription slip made, while the injured young woman was writhing in pain.The family members stated that getting the prescription slip made was taking 15-20 minutes. During this time, they pleaded with the staff to begin treatment immediately, but no one paid heed. It is alleged that in the meantime, Gupta called BJP MLA from Urai Sadar, Gauri Shankar Verma, informed him about the matter and sought his help in getting treatment.According to the victim’s family, after the MLA’s call came, the medical college staff and junior doctors became angry. The injured young woman’s brother requested the doctors to begin primary treatment until the prescription slip was prepared, but the doctors refused to provide treatment without the slip. This led to an argument between both sides, which further escalated the situation.
