Mapusa: Calangute resident Kevin Perera (25) died in an accident on Monday after his motorcycle crashed into a roadside barrier and an electric pole in front of the Dhargalim panchayat office.The incident occurred when Perera, a staff member of Manohar International Airport, Mopa, was returning home from work to Mapusa.According to Pernem PI Sachin Lokare, the accident occurred when Perera attempted to overtake a car on the left side. During the manoeuvre, his bike brushed against the car’s side mirror and lost control. The two-wheeler veered off the tarmac and struck a concrete pillar and an electric pole. The impact was so severe that the vehicle landed on top of him, resulting in critical injuries.Locals called an ambulance, and Perera was rushed to the district hospital in Mapusa. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.Originally from Mulund, Mumbai, Perera had been residing in Baga-Calangute with his parents.Pernem police have conducted a panchnama, and further investigation is under way.
