Calangute: Calangute village panchayat held its third Bal gram sabha on Sunday, with around 40 students from local schools participating and raising issues such as the unavailability of filtered drinking water and blocked footpaths.Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira said the panchayat would arrange water filters for schools and clear the blocked footpaths.The children’s gram sabha was primarily organised to create awareness about career options available after Class X, Sequeira said. “Even for those who fail, there are career options available,” he said.Faculty members from govt ITI in Mapusa explained the courses available to students, while a member of the Goa State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights raised awareness about children’s rights.Students also sought information about the sports fiesta, which was cancelled due to the coming assembly elections.
