Buxar: The 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project at Chausa in Buxar achieved full commercial operation on Saturday with the commissioning of its second 660 MW unit, marking a major milestone for SJVN Limited and boosting Bihar’s power generation capacity.Developed at an estimated cost of Rs13,756.56crore, the project is SJVN’s first thermal power venture to become fully operational. With both 660 MW units now generating power commercially, the plant is expected to significantly enhance electricity availability in Bihar and help meet rising demand, particularly during peak consumption periods.According to SJVN, Bihar will receive 85%ofthepowergenerated under a long-term power purchase agreement, strengthening the state’s energy security and reducing supply shortages.SJVN chairman and managing director BhupendraGupta said the second unit achieved commercial operation on Sept 12 and described the achievement as a significant milestone for the company. He said the project would play a key role in meeting Bihar’s growing energy requirements.
