Mandya: The second edition of the three-day Budanuru Utsav will commence in Mandya taluk on Feb 20, celebrating the region’s rich heritage. It will be formally inaugurated on Feb 21 by district minister N Cheluvarayaswamy.Mandya MLA Ravikumar had organised a heli-tourism initiative under which 10 govt school students and five progressive farmers will be given an opportunity to fly in a helicopter. The initiative is intended to inspire students and honour the contribution of farmers while creating memorable experiences for local residents.Speaking to reporters, Ravikumar underlined Budanuru’s historical importance, tracing its legacy to the 15th century Hoysala era. The village is home to the famed Ananthapadmanabha Temple, regarded as the second of its kind in South India, as well as the historic Kashi Vishwanatha Temple. The MLA also said that the cultural programme on the evening of Feb 21 will be presented by music director Gurukiran and his team, while the valedictory programme on Feb 22 will feature cultural performances in the evening by Rajesh Krishnan and his team.The celebrations will begin on Feb 17 with a drawing competition for students, followed by rangoli competitions for women on Feb 18 and 19. Traditional sports like kabaddi and kho kho will be held at Vishwamanava School. The festival will also feature a food mela, a fire display, and cultural performances by noted artists, aiming to promote Budanuru as a prominent tourism destination.
