Kanpur: The BSF ASI steno and BSF head constable (ministerial) recruitment examination at MD Infotech Centre in Kanpur’s Shyam Nagar was cancelled after computers repeatedly shut down due to a technical/electrical fault. The examination will be held again on Sept 18.The centre, identified by Centre Code 25916, was scheduled to host 500 candidates in three shifts on Wednesday.Candidates said entry for the first shift was scheduled to begin at 7.30am, but they were allowed inside much later. The examination began around 9am, but the computers shut down after about 15 minutes.Staff repaired the systems, but they shut down again after another 15 to 20 minutes. Candidates were asked to leave the centre after the examination could not resume for about 40 minutes.More than 500 candidates subsequently protested outside the centre, demanding that the examination be conducted again soon and a fresh date be announced. Police and administrative officials reached the spot and brought the situation under control.ADCP East Shiva Singh said a notice issued by the authorities cancelled examinations scheduled in all three shifts.“At first glance, a technical/electrical fault appears to be the cause, which is being investigated in detail. The examination will be held again on Sept 18. Candidates have been asked to regularly check the official BSF portal for further updates,” the ADCP added.
