Dhanbad: A 20-year-old man was found dead with his throat slit in the Krishi Bazaar Samiti premises on Friday. The deceased Rohit Singh, a native of Bokaro, was a daily wage labour who worked in the vicinity.The recovery of the dead body close to Randhir Verma Chowk, which is at the heart of the city. Police learnt that Rohit had gone to sleep on Thursday on the rooftop of the shop he worked in after dinner. On Friday morning, when people from the market area stepped out towards the public toilet, they spotted his blood-soaked body lying outside a closed shop. The sight triggered panic and chaos in the area.Preliminary examination revealed deep cut marks on the victim’s neck, indicating that he was brutally murdered using a sharp-edged weapon. The nature of injuries suggests a premeditated and violent act, police sources said.Manoj Pandey, the officer-in-charge of Dhanbad police station, said, “The body has been sent for postmortem examination. Efforts are underway to identify the assailants with the help of CCTV footages nearby.” The police have also begun questioning locals and shopkeepers to gather clues about the victim’s last movements. An FIR was registered against unknown persons later in the day.
