Lucknow: Brushing before bedtime is more important than brushing in the morning, UP deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak said on Saturday, urging dentists to promote better oral hygiene and adopt emerging technologies.Inaugurating the 8th dental show organised by the Indian Dental Association (IDA) at IGP, Pathak said food particles trapped between teeth overnight raise the risk of decay and other oral diseases. To avoid that, one must brush one’s teeth at night itself. He also told dentists that the govt would address issues related to registration and renewal of dental clinics and hospitals.Experts at the event highlighted the growing use of laser-assisted dentistry.

Co-chairperson of the show, Dr Himangi Dubey said laser technology has improved the safety and precision of several procedures, including failed root canal treatment (RCT) cases. Laser disinfection removes bacteria from infected areas using controlled heat, increasing success rates to nearly 99%.IDA secretary Dr Sachin Prakash said laser-assisted RCT reduces reinfection, pain, bleeding and recovery time. Dr Dubey added that laser frenectomy offers a minimally invasive treatment for tongue-tie and lip-tie, improving speech and healing while lowering infection risk.Dr Sudhakar Singh of the IDA said advances in implant technology have made artificial tooth implantation easier and more successful.
