Patna: A BPSC teacher was shot dead allegedly by her husband in front of their 9-year-old son in K Hat police station area of Purnia on Sunday night. Her husband Rajkumar Yadav, who works at a cooperative bank, fled with his pistol after the incident.The deceased, Shalini, was posted as a high school teacher at a govt school in Raniganj, Araria district, and lived in a rented house near College Chowk in Purnia with her husband and two children.According to her son, the couple had an argument on Sunday. In anger, Rajkumar allegedly said, “today we will end everything” before pulling out a pistol and shooting Shalini. She collapsed in the room while Rajkumar fled.Shalini’s maternal uncle Gauri Shankar said he received a call from her 9-year-old son, who was crying and informed him about the incident. He and other family members reached the house and found Shalini lying inside. Her two children, aged nine and four, were terrified. The family rushed her to GMCH Purnia, where doctors declared her dead.Police said the shooting took place between 8pm and 9pm. Shalini was originally from Jabalpatti in Madhepura district, while her brother lives in Muzaffarpur.K Hat police recovered a cartridge casing from the room and sent the body for post-mortem to Purnia Medical College.K Hat SHO Jaiprakash Singh said, “The killing appears to be a result of a domestic dispute and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused. An FIR has been registered based on the family’s statement. The gun used in the killing has not been recovered from the spot. Search is also on for the murder weapon.”
