Authorities apprehended a Ghaziabad man for sending a bomb threat email to ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Police have traced and secured a man from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad for allegedly sending a hoax bomb threat email to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) headquarters in Bengaluru. Preliminary investigation found that the man has a history of mental illness, officials said on Friday to news agency PTI.The ISRO headquarters received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the premises, prompting an immediate security response. Police rushed to the spot and carried out a comprehensive search but found no suspicious objects, confirming that the threat was false.Following a complaint by an ISRO administrative officer, Sanjay Nagar police registered a case and constituted a special investigation team to identify the sender.Using technical analysis and digital evidence, investigators traced the email to Ghaziabad, where the suspect was located and secured.Police also seized the electronic device allegedly used to send the email. Forensic examination confirmed that it had been used to send the bomb threat to the ISRO headquarters.“Further inquiry revealed that the individual has a history of mental illness. The electronic device used in the offence has been seized, and further investigation is underway,” police said.(With agency inputs)
