Mandya: Traffic on the Mysuru–Channarayapatna State Highway came to a complete standstill on Monday morning after a massive boiler tank being transported on a heavy vehicle slipped off and crashed onto the roadway near Murukanahalli in KR Pete taluk of Mandya district.The incident occurred when a truck carrying the boiler tank from Rajasthan to the Nanjangud Industrial Area reportedly struck a roadside tree. The impact caused the oversized tank to roll off the trailer and fall across the highway, blocking traffic in both directions.The accident led to major traffic congestion, with long queues of vehicles forming on either side of the highway. Commuters were stranded for several hours as vehicular movement came to a halt along the affected stretch. Many motorists were forced to take alternative routes to reach their destinations.Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. However, the mishap caused considerable inconvenience to commuters and transport operators using the busy highway.Police from the KR Pete Rural police station rushed to the spot and launched efforts to restore traffic. Heavy machinery was deployed to remove the boiler tank and clear the obstruction. Traffic police diverted vehicles through nearby village roads until the highway was reopened.Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, including whether the oversized load was properly secured during transportation. Normal traffic resumed after the boiler tank was safely removed from the road.
