Vadodara: A bogus doctor was nabbed by the local crime branch (LCB) sleuths from the Akota area of the city on Wednesday. Police said they received information that a man without a medical degree was running a clinic, following which they raided the premises.According to police, Biswajit Haldar, a native of West Bengal, was running Promila Clinic. When police asked him to produce his medical degree, he failed to do so. Police said Haldar had been practising as an allopathy doctor in the city for the past 15 years.Haldar, who has studied only up to Class X, was allegedly prescribing medicines and treating patients at his clinic. The LCB seized cough syrup bottles, injections, tablets, glucose bottles and cash from the premises.The arrest is the latest in a series of cases involving alleged bogus doctors in and around Vadodara. On August 20, Vadodara rural police arrested another bogus doctor, Aseem Sankhari, from Raypura village. Sankhari, also a native of West Bengal, had allegedly been running a clinic in the village for the past few years.In March, the Special Operations Group (SOG) had arrested Dhaval Kawad, who was allegedly practising as an allopathic doctor in the Gajrawadi area for several years.
