Kolkata: After the body of a woman was found inside a sack in a pond at Dhopagachhi in the Baruipur PS area on Tuesday, police arrested two brothers — Mehbub and Meheraj — on Wednesday. Meheraj, with his daughter, brother Mehbub and other family members, lived in Padmapukur area, police said. On April 13, when the rest of the family was away, he called over his girlfriend, Chhapia Bibi, a Raidighi resident. Around 12.30 am, a fight broke out, and Meheraj slit Chhapia’s throat with a knife, killing her on the spot. He later confided in Mehbub and the two dumped the body in the pond, police said. tnn
