Kanpur: An 18-year-old BBA student died during treatment on Saturday night, six days after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance. Police said the student had reportedly taken the extreme step after a dispute with a female friend, who allegedly blocked his mobile number and social media accounts.Police said the student, a second-year BBA student at a private college in Saket Nagar, allegedly consumed the poisonous substance on the night of July 27.According to his father, the girl, who studied at the same college, was his close friend. A few days earlier, the two had an argument over an issue. It was alleged that the girl blocked his mobile number and social media account. Despite several attempts, he was unable to contact her. Distressed over the situation, he allegedly consumed a poisonous substance on Monday night.When his condition worsened, the student asked his father to take him to a hospital. On being questioned, he told his father that he had consumed a poisonous substance. He was initially admitted to a private hospital and was later referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital after his condition became critical. Sen Paschim Para police station in-charge Pradeep Singh said if the family submits a complaint, an investigation will be conducted and appropriate action will be taken.
