Aizawl: BJP Mizoram unit president Dr K Beichhua on Thursday condemned the alleged vandalism of an under-construction Mizo Synod church at Subhasgram in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, calling it an attack on religious freedom and demanding immediate action against those responsibleIn a statement, Beichhua said he was deeply anguished and saddened by the incident, alleging that a violent mob vandalised the church, desecrated crosses and damaged church property.He said the Mizo Synod holds spiritual, cultural and emotional significance for the people of Mizoram, and that the incident had caused widespread grief among the Mizo community.He, however, praised local Hindu residents of Subhasgram for expressing solidarity with the Christian community and demanding justice, saying the gesture showed that citizens reject communal hatred.
