Jhunjhunu: BJP secured a clear majority in Shrimadhopur municipal elections in Sikar district, giving a boost to Urban Development and Housing (UDH) minister Jhabar Singh Kharra. BJP triumphed in 19 out of 35 wards, while Congress managed to win nine wards, and independents claimed victories in seven.The counting process showcased an initial tight race among BJP, Congress and independent candidates. However, as the counting progressed, BJP widened its lead significantly. Notably, Vishnu Kumar Mishra, representing ward 9, achieved one of the largest margins of victory, winning by 374 votes. A key moment occurred in ward 18, where a tie between BJP and Congress resulted in a decisive slip-draw that declared BJP’s Manju Devi the winner.BJP is positioned to form the municipal board in Shrimadhopur. Conversely, in the neighbouring Ajitgarh municipality, no party secured a clear majority, leading to an uncertain political scenario where both BJP and Congress will likely need to court independent candidates for board formation. Of the 25 wards in Ajitgarh, Congress got nine seats, BJP eight and independents eight.
