Ranchi: A Congress party delegation on Monday accused Ranchi mayoral candidate Roshni Khalko, who is being backed by the BJP, of violating the model code of conduct (MCC) and urged the state election commission (SEC) to act against her.In its memorandum to the SEC, the Congress claimed that Khalko and her election workers, along with BJP workers in the state capital, were distributing biscuits with special packets having her image to the electorate. “These packets have the candidate’s picture printed on them and where the biscuit packets were being packed, a flex of Prime Minister Modi has also been put up, which is a violation of the MCC,” the memorandum read. It further said that the BJP is using PM’s face out of desperation and fear of losing.“Distributing food packets with photos during the election period is an attempt to influence voters. More so, the video of this packaging and distribution has been shared from the official Facebook handle of BJP,” the Congress delegation claimed as it demanded an impartial probe into the matter.Rejecting claims made by the Congress, Khalko said, “I don’t know what they are saying against me or my party. I don’t need to distribute biscuits as people are accepting me open heartedly due to my connect and pro-people approach.”
