Madikeri: Alleging that the state govt has failed to effectively address the growing human-wildlife conflict in Kodagu, the district BJP leaders on Thursday said that attacks by elephants, tigers and leopards continue to claim lives of farmers, labourers, livestock and other domestic animals, severely disrupting normal life in the region.Speaking to reporters in Madikeri, BJP district president Ravi Kalappa, MLC Suja Kushalappa and former MLC Sunil Subramani alleged that the govt has limited its response to providing meagre compensation for crop losses caused by wild animals and has also delayed disbursing compensation to affected farmers.Condemning the govt’s handling of the issue, BJP announced a vehicle rally on July 6. The rally will begin from various parts of the district and converge at Gandhi Maidan at 12.30 pm, following which party workers will stage a protest in front of the DC’s office, BJP leaders said. They said the state govt is forcing farmers to evict the C&D land despite living there for several years.
