Ghaziabad: A 35-year-old man, carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, was arrested in connection with the murder of businessman and hotelier Rahul Dagar outside a highrise in Raj Nagar Extension on June 1. The accused, Rohit Sharma alias Mantri from Haryana’s Jind, was staying in Delhi when apprehended.It was around 9.30pm on June 1 when Dagar was shot dead by armed assailants. His brother-in-law Avinash, who suffered a bullet wound to his leg, identified Dagar’s business partner Nagendra Chaudhary and three others — Mohit Chaudhary, Ritesh Bindal, and Mantri — as the attackers in his police complaint. Mohit and Ritesh had previously been arrested in the case. An FIR was registered against seven accused, including two unidentified persons, under various BNS sections such as murder, attempt to murder, and rioting with deadly weapons. According to Poonam Mishra, ACP of Nandgram, they received a tip-off about Mantri’s movements and arrested him from near a cemetery on Pusta Road while he was on his way towards Hindon metro station.Mantri, who fled the scene in his silver i10 (HR26CZ-9628), was finally caught while attempting to meet his brother on Friday.
