Mangaluru: The Bishop of the Diocese of Mangalore, Most Rev Fr Peter Paul Saldanha, has called for peace, dialogue and reconciliation in his Easter 2026 message, urging people to respond to a world increasingly scarred by violence and division.Extending Easter greetings to citizens, Bishop Saldanha said the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is not only a historical event central to Christian faith but also a living source of hope for humanity. He described the Risen Christ as a beacon for a troubled world and said the Easter message holds a strong appeal for healing and unity.Expressing concern over growing bloodshed and conflicts across the globe, the Bishop said many societies today face unrest, hatred and uncertainty. In such times, he said, the message of the Risen Christ points to peace through dialogue and mutual understanding.Bishop Saldanha made a strong appeal for reconciliation at every level of society. He urged the faithful and all people of goodwill to end hatred and build harmony among religions, neighbours and families. He stressed that peace must begin in everyday relationships and spread to the wider community.“Let this Easter mark a new chapter in our lives,” the Bishop said, praying that the Risen Lord would lift humanity from sorrow and despair into a life of enduring peace and fulfilment.He concluded by invoking God’s blessings on all and wishing the community a grace-filled and Happy Easter, while renewing his call for unity, compassion and lasting reconciliation.
