Jammu: As part of the forthcoming Swachhata Abhiyan, wherein “E-Waste Management” has been identified as the theme, the BIS Standard Club of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sunjwan, Jammu, organized a Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition on 16 September 2026 under the mentorship of Dr. Ajay Kumar, Mentor, BIS Standard Club.

The activity was organized in coordination with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), with the objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of e-waste management, segregation, recycling, safe collection and responsible disposal of electronic waste.

As part of the outreach activity, students also participated in a cleanliness drive within the school premises, contributing towards maintaining a clean and hygienic environment. The initiative aimed to reinforce the importance of cleanliness and responsible waste management practices in day-to-day life.

A total of 40 students participated enthusiastically in the activities and showcased their creativity and awareness through posters and slogans highlighting the need for proper management of e-waste. Through the cleanliness drive, the students also demonstrated their commitment towards maintaining clean surroundings and adopting environmentally responsible practices.

The activity highlighted the importance of segregation of e-waste at source, safe collection, responsible disposal, recycling and environmentally sound management of electronic waste. Students were encouraged to spread awareness among their families and communities and to adopt responsible practices for handling electronic waste.

The initiative reflects the role of BIS Standard Clubs in promoting awareness about standards, quality, safety and environmentally sustainable practices among students, while encouraging them to become responsible citizens and ambassadors of quality and cleanliness.
