Kanpur: In an untoward incident on Thursday night, a few bike-borne men allegedly opened fire on a woman in Rawatpur while she was travelling in an auto with her brother.According to police, the woman escaped unhurt in the incident. However, she was taken to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital for a medical examination.Deputy commissioner of police (West) S.M. Qasim Abidi said police analysed the crime scene but found no evidence of firing, such as cartridge cases, at the spot.He said the woman had earlier informed police about some individuals who had allegedly set a motorcycle on fire. Since then, she claimed, the men had harboured a grudge against her for reporting their involvement.The DCP added that teams have been formed to trace the persons against whom allegations have been levelled in the case.“Further legal action will be taken as per rules on the basis of the actual facts of the incident,” he said.
