Gurgaon: A 29-year-old labourer from Bihar was electrocuted while working at a construction site in the Pataudi area on Monday. On Wednesday, police registered a case of negligence against the contractor.Police said the incident took place between 7.30pm and 8pm when Ajeet Kumar, a resident of Madhepura district in Bihar, was engaged in mixing concrete near a mixer at the private construction site.At that moment, electricity suddenly passed through the machine, causing him to collapse on the spot. The fellow workers rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.A police officer said, “It is suspected that the concrete mixer became electrically charged, though the reason behind the electrocution is yet to be established. We are examining whether proper safety measures and electrical safeguards were in place at the construction site.”As Kumar’s family lives in Bihar, his relatives reached the city after being informed about the incident. An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday after the family arrived, police said.Following a preliminary inquiry, Shivaji Nagar police station registered the case against the contractor under relevant provisions of BNS for causing death by negligence. Officers said statements of workers present at the site are being recorded and technical aspects related to the electrical equipment are also being examined. The body was handed over to the family.
