Patna: The five-day monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly concluded on Friday with Speaker Prem Kumar describing it as highly productive. In his valedictory address, the Speaker said the House passed 20 Bills during the session, including two that were approved unanimously.Assembly proceedings remained largely smooth and peaceful throughout the session, except for an unscheduled adjournment of the morning sitting on the final day. The treasury and opposition benches cooperated in the passage of most legislative business, enabling the government to complete its agenda without major disruptions.However, the session witnessed a brief confrontation during discussions on the first supplementary budget for the 2026-27 financial year. Opposition members staged a walkout on Thursday while rural development minister Shrawan Kumar was replying to the debate on the budgetary demands of his department.The absence of leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav from the House throughout the session also became a talking point. Treasury bench members repeatedly raised the issue, while RJD legislators avoided commenting on his absence.The matter surfaced during a discussion on a cut motion moved by RJD MLA Rahul Kumar on the supplementary budget. Senior BJP leader and agriculture minister Vijay Kumar Sinha referred to Tejashwi’s absence, putting former minister and RJD member Kumar Sarvajeet on the defensive.After praising members for their constructive participation, Speaker Prem Kumar adjourned the Assembly sine die, bringing the monsoon session to a close.
