Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has received a proposal for the upgradation of several infrastructure facilities and the implementation of campus development projects from industrialist Kunal Dalmia.Kunal Dalmia, grandson of late Dulichand Dalmia and son of late Savitri Devi Dalmia, recently met BHU vice-chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi to formally submit the proposal aimed at carrying forward his family’s longstanding contribution to education and student welfare.The Dalmia family has previously supported the university by constructing the Dalmia Hostel at the Institute of Science.Under the proposal, Dalmia has offered to undertake repair and renovation works at the Dalmia Hostel, including structural repairs, waterproofing, painting, renovation of toilet facilities, campus landscaping and beautification, and the development of badminton and pickleball courts in the hostel premises.The proposal also includes several development initiatives for Central Hindu Boys School, Kamachha. These comprise the development of a park along the Kamachha Road boundary, plantation of bird-friendly tree species, creation of water bodies and a fountain, installation of a rainwater harvesting system, and construction of badminton and pickleball courts for students.In addition, Dalmia has proposed to contribute towards the repair and renovation of the Savitri Devi Dalmia Vigyan Bhawan at Mahila Mahavidyalaya.The proposed projects are aimed at improving campus infrastructure, promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing recreational facilities for students.
