Varanasi: Fast track court of Additional District Judge (14th Finance Commission) on Thursday ordered confiscation of five properties worth Rs 27.89 crores, of co-accused Bhola Prasad Jaiswal, father of Shubham Jaiswal, kingpin of the codeine cough syrup syndicate, under section 107 of BNSS. Bhola’s properties worth over Rs 30 crore were already forfeited by Varanasi and Sonbhadra police, following which he challenged the confiscation in court. Special public prosecutor (NDPS) Arvind Srivastava said following completion of hearing in the FTC, Additional District Judge (14th Finance Commission) Manoj Kumar ordered confiscation of five properties, including a commercial building in Tulsipur, two houses in Lullapura Khurd and Jagatganj, and plots at Bharlai Shivpur and Marhauli, belonging to Bhola Prasad Jaiswal under section 107 of BNSS, by accepting plea of the investigator in the case lodged against him at Kotwali police station. Estimated value of these properties is Rs 27.89 crore, he said, adding that court asked Bhola why further action in this regard should not be taken. Court fixed Mar 3 as next date for hearing and filing reply. Bhola had filed objection against multiple actions of forfeiture of his movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 30 crore. While making a bid to board flight to Thailand, Bhola was caught at Kolkata airport on Nov 29, 2025 and was brought to Sonbhadra on transit remand on Dec 2. Since then, he has been lodged in jail.
