BHU has been an important centre of tertiary and super-speciality healthcare for patients from eastern UP, Bihar and the wider Purvanchal region. Addition of a dedicated CT Simulator is a milestone in strengthening cancer treatment services for this large and often underserved population. The newly installed CT simulator allows patients to be scanned in exact treatment position, enabling oncologists to delineate tumours and surrounding critical organs with millimetric precision. Availability of in-house CT simulator significantly reduces waiting times for treatment planning, enabling timely initiation of therapy, an essential factor in improving clinical outcomes. The facility will support advanced radiotherapy techniques such as Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), and stereotactic procedures, all of which demand high levels of precision and planning accuracy.VC also inaugurated the newly established Sant Kabir Das Ward and visited several key facilities within the Institute, including Swami Vivekanand Library and Brachytherapy Complex, reviewing ongoing services and infrastructure enhancements. He also visited Linear Accelerator Complex, where some important projects will soon be inaugurated in a step towards upgrading SSH into an AIIMS-like structure. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prof U P Shahi, EC member, Dr Satyajit Pradhan, director of Mahamana Cancer Centre, Prof S N Sankhwar, director, IMS-BHU, Prof K K Gupta, medical superintendent, Dr Sunil Choudhary, head of department of radiotherapy and radiation medicine and others.
