Nagpur: Besa is set for a major infrastructure upgrade, with ₹25 crore sanctioned for concretisation of Hudkeshwar stretch under the Central Road Fund by Union minister Nitin Gadkari. The project aims to transform the existing tar road into a durable four-lane cement corridor, improving traffic flow and strengthening connectivity in the locality. The proposed upgrade covers Matkazari-Hudkeshwar Road stretch, broadly extending from just before the outer ring to Hudkeshwar Khurd. This key corridor, around 1500 km in length, serves as a vital link for residential and commercial zones in and around Besa, which have witnessed significant urban expansion in recent years.According to public works department (PWD) officials, technical proposal is currently under scrutiny at the chief engineer’s office. Once cleared, the project will move into the tendering phase, with work expected to commence in the coming months. The four-lane concretisation is expected to significantly enhance road durability, reduce maintenance needs, and ensure smoother vehicular movement. Improved infrastructure along this stretch will also ease congestion and support the area’s growing population and real estate development.PWD officials added that they would like to start the work before monsoon, so that when the rainfall starts, they have the basic foundation laying squared away.
