Moving to a new city can change the small parts of your daily routine that you never really thought about before. A recent Instagram video has started a conversation about one such experience, after creator Astha Goyal spoke about adjusting to life in Gurgaon after working in Bengaluru.Goyal shared a few observations about the change, while people in the comments brought in experiences of their own. Some agreed with her, while others said their workplaces and lives in the two cities had been very different.
Gurgaon dress code leaves her surprised

In Gurgaon, she said she found a more defined approach to office dressing.“Bhai, the cultural work differences which I have faced from moving Bangalore to Gurgaon is, first is your dress. Like, yahan pe proper dress code hai, bhai. Bangalore mein it was so casual ki tum kuch bhi pehen ke aa rahe ho, and then nobody is saying anything with regard to your dress. Jismein tum comfortable ho, wear it. But yahan pe you need to follow a proper dress code. Oh my God!”The comment prompted people to discuss their own experiences with office dress rules.
She misses having her cat at work
Her second observation was about her pet.Goyal said she had been able to take her cat to work while she was in Bengaluru. She said that is not allowed at her current workplace in Gurgaon.“And second thing is, whenever I am leaving my cat for work, ye mujhe kuch aise dekhta hai, and it made me so, so sad. Wahan pe main isko lekar jaati thi, allowed tha ye, but yahan pe nahi hai,” she said.The change appears to be something she particularly misses from her earlier work routine.
One Gurgaon worker disagrees
A user from Gurgaon said their office does not have the kind of clothing restrictions Goyal described.“I have my office in Gurgaon, and I don’t have any dress code. I can wear party wear, formals, casuals and no one will say anything. Maybe it depends on the office.”Another commenter had a different opinion of the two cities, writing, “Gurgaon is much better. Bangalore ka sirf mausam hi acha hai.”
Users also discuss life in Gurgaon
The comments were not limited to workplace rules.One user shared their concerns about finding simple and affordable options in Gurgaon and also mentioned safety.“There’s no life in Gurgaon. You can’t find a roadside bouquet store to gift yourself. You can’t find good, simple, affordable food. You have to have a proper plan to either go to Bikaner’s or very high-end malls. In terms of safety, I don’t want to talk.”Another user said they missed Bengaluru and connected their move to Gurgaon with hair fall.“I miss Bangalore. I was not ready for my hair loss that is happening in Gurgaon! I mean, the insane hair fall,” the person commented.
Others say every workplace is different
Some users said Goyal’s experience did not match their own.“I didn’t face this issue. This might depend on the organisation,” one person wrote.A user who had moved from Gurgaon to Bengaluru said, “I agree. I have moved from Gurgaon to Bangalore and I can definitely say this. People are so sweet and helpful.”Another commenter said, “Even being from North India, I can say Bangalore culture in terms of work is far better.
