Bengaluru: A 25-year-old woman, Kavya, allegedly hanged herself at her husband’s residence in Thorenagasandra, north Bengaluru, after allegedly being subjected to repeated taunts over childlessness.Her family has alleged harassment by her husband and in-laws, prompting a police investigation. Her parents expressed suspicion over the circumstances of her death and alleged that her husband also played a role in the harassment she endured. According to her family, Kavya married Naveen five years ago while she was pursuing her B.Com degree. The couple, however, did not have children, which allegedly became a constant source of conflict within the family.A senior police officer said Kavya’s family members organised her sister’s baby shower last week. Kavya was depressed as she had not conceived and allegedly took the extreme step. After an autopsy Saturday, a case of unnatural death was registered at Madanayakanahalli police station.
