Bengaluru: A surprise police raid at a lounge bar on Rest House Road in the central business district (CBD) on Tuesday afternoon exposed a party involving underage drinking. The raid, conducted around 2pm, was based on a tip-off that drugs were being supplied at the venue.Police found around 120 youngsters partying at the pub, many of whom were consuming alcohol and smoking. During the search, officers detained Tushar R, 25, a resident of Vasanthnagar, after a small quantity of ganja was found in his possession. He confessed to bringing the drugs for personal use and to share with other attendees.Suspecting that some of the guests were minors, police called in the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team. Drug tests were conducted on 28 youths, and 10 of them, including three girls, were confirmed to be underage.Police also noted that the pub allowed smoking inside the main area, violating rules regarding designated smoking zones. Four persons were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Karnataka Excise Act, and the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act. They were arrested and later released on bail. Police said the parents of the minors would be summoned and counselled.
