BENGALURU: A chilling murder remained hidden behind the locked doors of a rented house on Bengaluru’s outskirts for nearly five days before a foul odour exposed the gruesome crime. Police suspect a migrant worker from Bihar was allegedly killed by her husband, who wrapped her body in a bedsheet and fled to his native state.The deceased has been identified as Reema Kumari, 20, while her husband, Dheeraj Kumar, has emerged as the prime suspect. Kumbalagodu Police of the South-West Division have registered a case of murder and launched an investigation.Police said the couple had come to Bengaluru a year ago and were working at a factory near Gerupalya. Dheeraj is suspected of murdering his wife four to five days ago before locking the house and fleeing. With no one aware of the crime, the body remained inside the house.The incident came to light only after Reema failed to report for work for several days. Worried by her unexplained absence, a colleague visited the couple’s rented house on Thursday and noticed a strong foul smell coming from inside.She alerted the house owner. After the locked house was opened, Reema’s decomposed body was found wrapped in a bedsheet and kept near the toilet.Police have launched a manhunt for Dheeraj, who is believed to have fled to Bihar soon after the murder.
