In a video shared on Instagram, the woman broke down expenses ranging from the security deposit and brokerage to interstate packers and movers, furniture rentals and Wi-Fi relocation.

Deposit and brokerage formed the biggest expense

Ana Mishra explained that she and her partner, Ishan, recently moved into a 3BHK apartment in South Bengaluru. While Mishra shifted from another apartment in the city, Ishan moved from Kolkata.

“So our biggest chunk of money went in the deposit, of course, and we paid 1.5 lakhs for a 3 BHK apartment in South Bangalore,” she said.

The couple also chose to take the help of a broker instead of handling the house hunt themselves. “You can definitely find a house without a broker and we did not want to do all the work by ourselves, so a broker really helped us, and brokerage cost us one month rent, which is 37,000,” Mishra added.

For moving large furniture from Kolkata to Bengaluru, including a bed, shoe rack, dining table and king-size sofa, the couple spent 60,000 on packers and movers.

“We shipped our bed, shoe rack, dining table, king-size sofa, and the whole thing cost us 60,000 rupees, which was totally worth it. All our stuff came properly, nothing broke, no scratches,” she said.

From furniture rentals to Wi-Fi relocation

Mishra spent another 3,000 to move her personal belongings from her previous Bengaluru apartment.

The couple also rented a washing machine, refrigerator and water purifier for 2,800 a month. Relocating the Wi-Fi connection cost another 700.

“So in total, we spent 2,53,500 rupees on our entire moving process,” Mishra said, adding that the figure did not include money spent on décor and other purchases for the new home.

She shared the video with the caption, “Breaking down how much we spent moving into a new apartment in Bangalore.”
