Nagpur: A woman running a beauty parlour in Borgaon area and a 79-year-old man collectively lost Rs75 lakh after a man allegedly stole their bank account details from their mobile phones on the pretext of selling insurance policies.The complainant, who maintains an account at a bank’s Friends Colony branch, told police that the accused, Sameer Iqbal Abdul Hameed Pandey, regularly visited her parlour near Factory area, insisting she purchase insurance policies. He gained her confidence, handled her mobile phone under the pretext of checking policy status online, and allegedly transferred funds from her account and her children’s accounts to bank accounts linked to the accused identified as Sultan Pandey, Shubham Chutlekar and two others.As per the FIR, the gang also targeted a 79-year-old man, Subhas Agrawal, using fake policy documents, FD papers and mutual fund certificates. They allegedly siphoned off almost Rs78 lakh via IMPS after handling his phone.The accused allegedly prepared forged documents and executed the fraud between February and July 2026. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of BNS. Investigation is under way.
