Patna: The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) on Thursday arrested Purnia’s Baisa block development officer (BDO) Rajkumar Chaudhary and his personal assistant, Satish Kumar, for allegedly accepting a Rs 46,000 bribe to clear a vendor’s payment bill.According to SVU ADG Sudhanshu Kumar, the action followed a complaint filed by Raj Kiran of Kanjia village in Purnia, who alleged that the BDO had demanded a commission for releasing a Rs 16 lakh payment. After verifying the complaint and registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, an SVU team conducted a trap and caught the duo allegedly accepting the bribe at the BDO’s official residence in the Baisa block office premises.Both accused are being interrogated, and further investigation is underway.
