New Delhi: Delhi Police will question seven staff members of the de-addiction centre in Outer Delhi’s Bawana where a man was allegedly murdered by a chemical engineer.According to police sources, the staff will be examined about the sequence of events leading up to the incident, including a quarrel that reportedly took place a few days earlier between the accused, Arun Joshi, and the victim, Arun Kumar. Investigators will also seek to determine whether any preventive or disciplinary action was taken by the centre’s staff following the earlier altercation.Police will probe how the accused managed to procure a knife inside the facility. Meanwhile, the cops have sought relevant documents from the management and will write to the concerned department of Delhi govt to verify whether the facility had the required licence to operate.When contacted, a representative of the centre declined to comment on the matter.The incident occurred around 3.30 am on Friday when Kumar was asleep. Joshi allegedly attacked him with a knife and slit his throat. The accused was apprehended from the spot.During interrogation, the accused disclosed that a quarrel broke out between the two a few days ago. During the altercation, Kumar allegedly abused him. In the act of revenge, the accused committed the crime.Joshi, a resident of Tri Nagar, completed his schooling and graduation in Rohini and obtained a degree in chemical engineering in 2019 from a college in the area. Police said his father runs a rented medical shop near their residence.“During inquiry, it was revealed that Joshi had developed a habit of consuming ganja/cannabis during his college tenure around 2015. He was admitted to the private de-addiction centre in Hiranki about nine months ago for treatment and rehabilitation,” police said.
