Jaisalmer: Divya Bhadu, who grew up in Somrad village in Dhanau area of Barmer district, scored 499 out of 500 marks in RBSE’s Class 12 Science stream exams, one of only five students to achieve this score. She had been studying at a school in Sikar district’s Losal, while staying at the school hostel, for the past two years. Crediting the school’s teachers and management for enabling her to stay far away from home, Divya said she aspires to become an IAS officer.Divya’s first rank at the state level led to celebrations in her village, with relatives, neighbours, and school friends all visiting her home. Board officials, local officials, and politicians also extended congratulatory messages on her success. Daughter of Sujaram, an assistant gram sevak, Divya said opportunities and facilities for education were limited in Somrad village, which is located in an area called Kishan Ka Tala. She said she studied for four to five hours daily in addition to schoolwork, and maintained the same routine during holidays at home.
